1. Social Security Disability-SSDI

If you have consistently worked least five out of the last ten years before your date of disability and appropriately funded your quarters of coverage, then you may be eligible for Social Security Disability (SSD/SSDI) benefits

Whether you know it or not, you've been paying into the Social Security system. Think of it like a hidden insurance premium that secures your disability benefits if you qualify!  


To be eligible for SSD, you must:

Be younger than full retirement age


Meet Social Security's definition of disability and be unable to work due to physical or mental medical impairment(s) that is expected to last one year or more and/or result in death. 

2. Supplemental Security Income-SSI

SSI provides financial assistance to disabled adults and children who have very limited work history, income and assets.

Supplemental Security Income is an indigent federal program funded by U.S. Treasury general funds.


The U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) administers the program, but SSI is not paid for by Social Security taxes.

To be eligible for SSI, you must be either be:

- Age 65 or older

- Blind

- Disabled

 63 Years of Accumulated Practice
